'Safe For Life' - Women's Self Defence/Rape Prevention Program (6 hour seminar):
This unique seminar specifically designed for women is split into two parts, the Psychological and the Physical. The majority of women who have taken this course went from a victim's mentality to that of a survivor's within the first two hours of the seminar! The first part covers Cognitive Defense Tactics and the second portion will demystify rape and physical attacks, preparing the participants with functional defence strategies and allowing them to experience the most common attacks made by men in simulated attack scenarios. 'Get REAL' Seminar Series:
The complete Reality Based Self Defence seminar series. Covering all aspects of reality based self defence for defending against real violence, from Awareness and Avoidence strategies, De-escalation strategies, Physical defence, as well as the aftermath of violence. This seminar series includes Scenario Replications and our 'alive' training methodology to provide participants with immediately functional skills that can be used straight away if needed. The complete series incorporates three seminars, phase 1, 2 and 3. Each phase is a seperate and independent building block on the last. Participants do not have to book all three at once, once phase 1 is completed you can decide whether to do phases 2 and/or 3.
The content of all three phases of Get REAL is unique to Protect in NZ.
The content of the seminars is as follows:
Phase 1
‘Get REAL’ (phase 1) lays the foundation of reality based defence and covers essential principles, tools, and strategies for avoiding, de-escalating or physically defending against real world violent situations.
ALL three phases deal with the physical as well as the often neglected psychological and behavioural aspects of defending yourself against real world aggression and violence as well as considerations of the aftermath of real situations.
The 'Shredder' concept is also introduced, explored and trained as part of this seminar.
Phase 2
‘Get Real’ (phase 2) builds on the skills developed in the phase 1 program and then takes things to a whole new level! In this program we introduce defence against weapons, with the predominant focus being on edged weapon (knife, shank, broken bottle etc) awareness and defence. We also explore and train defence against bludgeon weapons (Baseball bats, tyre iron, club, fence picket, crow bar etc) and explore improvised weapons/weapons of opportunity. This is an advanced program and participants must have completed ‘Get REAL’ phase 1 or ‘Safe For Life’ before attending this seminar.
All three phases of the ‘Get REAL’ program use our ‘alive’ training methodology so participants get immediate value and benefit and know that the skills can be applied immediately.
Phase 3
‘Get REAL’ (phase 3) is a scenario based program which uses our ‘alive’ training principles to ‘pressure test’ the skills learnt in phases 1 & 2 to take participants’ functional skills to the next level using our 3 dimensional training principles. We introduce firearm defence into this program as well as defending against multiple attacker situations. In this seminar, we anatomise the confrontation from start to finish and include time frame, mind set, clothing, environment, unforeseen variables, concealed/improvised weapons and more.
This is our most advanced public program and participants must have completed phases 1 & 2 to attend this seminar.
Seminar Bonus: Upon completion of all 3 phases of the ‘Get REAL’ program participants (Auckland only) are given the option of free access to Protect’s group classes at the Howick training centre for 4 weeks to continue to develop skills through our drill sessions and ‘alive’ training sessions.
Please note: Due to content of this seminar series 15 years of age is required for participation (unless arranged prior)
'On the Cutting Edge' (4 hour seminar):
Knife defence tactics for the real world!
The knife/edged weapon is the most common weapon that you will face 'on the street'. And facing one in the hands of an attacker is no game. To enhance your chances of survival and escape it is vital to understand the true level of threat that this weapon poses and have a realistic approach to dealing with it.
'On The Cutting Edge' is a no-frills seminar designed with one purpose in mind: To get you out of the situation alive by either avoiding it, diffusing it, or physically defending against it.
This seminar addresses the two types of attacks you may face, 'Static' and 'Dynamic' as well as the psychology of the attacker in each situation. Topics covered include: Awareness of concealed weapons, the crucial areas to avoid getting cut, the 3 golden rules to knife defence, controlling the blade, rear hand knife attacks, evasive maneuvers, maximizing your reflexive response, and a lot more.
The extended version of this seminar also covers machete and bludgeon weapon defence tactics. The content of this seminar has been taught to men and women from all walks of life including Police Officers, Prison Officers, Martial Artists, Bouncers, Security Officers, Corporate Professionals and every day people looking to enhance their survivability against edged weapons.
Close Quarter Combat (4 hours):
The close quarter range is where most fights, rapes, aggravated assaults and muggings take place. The CQC range is one of the most crucial yet neglected ranges of personal protection. This seminar includes: Defense against the most common attacks on the street, confrontation management skills, natural stance awareness, the pre-emptive strike, ambushes, sucker punches, Senshido's 5 Principals of physical retaliation, The Shredder and more.
Outnumbered But Not Outgunned: Multiple Attacker and Ground Survival (4-5-hour seminar):
Dealing with multiple attackers is one of the most dangerous situations you can find yourself in. Understanding the dynamics of the situation and having tactical response solutions is imperitive to ensure your escape/survival. This seminar explores the dynamics and psychology behind a group attack and the most tactical responses and physical retaliation strategies. Also included in this seminar is ground survival. You've probably heard that 90% of street fights end up on the ground? That may be true...but only if the defender's close quarter arsenal is deficient. End fights before they hit the ground, end them on their way down or end them as you hit the ground. Either way the ground is the last place you want to be in a real fight due to many variables including: Concealed weapons, multiple attackers, rough environment (gravel, asphalt, staircase etc.) and more. This seminar will teach you to defeat the clinch, Shredding while on the ground, destructive mounting principles, tactical escapes from the guard, the 'in betweens' of ground fighting, ground-fighting an armed assailant and more.
'Guardian Angel' - Child Safety Seminar (2-hour information session):
For Parents and their children ages newborn to 14 years old. This 2-hour information session is designed to maximise your children's safety and minimise all potential risks such as abductions, kidnappings, sexual assaults and sexual exploitation. Protect often hold this seminar as a community initiative at no charge. Watch the 'Upcoming Events' section for details of the next seminar. For full details of this seminar click HERE
