Personal Protection/Self Defence Program

We have now merged the Personal Protection/Self Defence Program and the Hand To Hand Combat program to give students maximum benefit and value. Each training session is a mix of both programs to ensure that we develop a complete Self Defence/Personal Protection system for students right from the first lesson.

Our students train at their own pace and own level at all times. This means that it doesn't matter if you are experienced or if it is your very first training ever, you can start at any time and feel comfortable.

Protect Reality Based Self Defence, Personal ProtectionProtect's Personal Protection/Self Defence Program is designed to enhance your survivability. You will learn to heighten your awareness and accurately read your intuition in order to avoid violence, aggression and confrontation. You will learn to de-escalate and defuse a potentially aggressive or violent situation using psychological tactics and strategy. You will also learn to physically defend yourself against the most common attacks on the street if avoidance and de-escalation failed.

The Training:

Unlike most self defense training, Protect's Personal Protection/Self Defence Program factors behavioral elements and environment into all drills and scenarios. It's one thing to learn and practice in an open controlled space in bare feet and loose pants, but most assaults do not happen under these conditions. They happen in closed small spaces like elevators, bathroom stalls; in bars, pushed up against a wall; in bed; while you are wearing regular pants, tight skirts, high heels, boots, backpacks etc. It is these realistic conditions which Protect re-creates and participants prepare for.

Scenarios & environments, including participant's suggestions and actual 'live' scenarios are covered extensively and in their entirety. Protect will take any on the spot scenarios and break them down for you in order to find the best possible solutions for that particular situation.

Once the student has learned the basics of our principles and methodologies, Protect uses "bad guy" role players in mock attacks which participants defend against in all scenarios. Applying what is taught, participants immediately experience and realise the abilities within themselves. Our "bad guys" wear only head and groin protectors, allowing them full range of motion and speed as well as reacting the way a real aggressor actually would, making the scenario as realistic as possible.

Note: Clients having previously been through violent confrontations or sexual assaults are interviewed, counseled and prepared beforehand.
