Question: "What is the best self defence move?"
Answer: There is no such thing as a 'best move' for all situations.
The situation always dictates the possible response. To be proficient we need a skills toolbox which gives us options at every combative range, and which focuses on strategies and tactics which can be adapted to dynamic, fluid, and stressful situations.
Attacks happen in different situations, in different positions, under different circumstances, and with different available options each time. No two are the same. Our training needs to reflect that by providing the ability to adapt and respond with an effective option, whatever the setting.
Morale of the story: You need more than one 'best move'.
